About

Sujimy Bin Mohamad
Born: 20 June 1969. A husband, a father, a business-owner and a rocker.
I was raised in a family of 15 (I am no. 12). Life was tough because we were really poor. Grew up in a drug-infested area called Tanglin Halt. Had truly great friends there and I missed them terribly. They are my true kakis.
My mum and late dad tried very hard to get us a good education and out of Tanglin Halt. (Tanglin Halt is all good now).
I began my broadcasting career in 1987. I was 16 years old then. That was 24 years ago! (well, depending on when you read this)
How did I get into broadcasting? I was talent-spotted by a young radio producer-presenter, Zakiah Halim, as a radio DJ with Radio Corporation of Singapore. My life changed when I entered radio. First, I couldn’t believe they are paying me to say things on air. It was more like play, not work.
I hosted a teenage radio show for a while and did a host of other things in Radio. It was really fun! (By the way, that young producer-presenter Zakiah Halim is now the General Manager for Malay/Indian Programming and Corporate Promotions of Mediacorp Radio.)
After I graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1994, I joined the Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) as a TV producer. Then I tried my hands on TV programming & Airtime sales at Singapore TV12 Pte Ltd. This was where I started to see the opportunities in the media industry.
In late 1999, together with my wife, Haslinda Ali, we set up ScreenBox (www.screenbox.com.sg) – a television production house.
Now our company is a one-stop integrated pre-, production and post-production house and is rapidly establishing a reputation for its cutting-edge video artistry and its unorthodox, unconventional TV programming not just for local broadcasters, but increasingly also for Asia-Pacific and international broadcasting stations.
Our vibrant team worked really hard producing award-winning TV shows that include Malay and English documentaries and lifestyle programmes, some of which have secured distribution in the US, Asia and Europe.
ScreenBox won 5 international awards for its creative excellence and 5 local awards for Best Documentary Category and TV design.
I am married to a fascinating woman, Haslinda Ali, and we have three daughters that we love dearly.
This is my blog and I welcome you.
