It's easy to get International Driving Permit

When you are opting for a self-drive overseas for travel or work, it is always good to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP). It is easy to get one in Singapore.

Here are easy steps to obtain your permit:

1. Go to Automobile Association of Singapore office. They have two locations:

535 Kallang Bahru
#02-08 GB Point
Singapore 339351

Mon - Sat: 8.30am - 11.00pm
Sun - PH: 10.00am - 11.00pm
Last Transaction: 10:30pm

51 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3
#02-02 51 @ AMK
Singapore 569922

Open Daily: 10.00am - 11.00pm (Including Sat, Sun and Public Holidays)

Last Transaction: 10:30pm

2. Don't forget to bring your NRIC and driving license and SGD20 fee. They will take a photo of you to issue the IDP.

3. It took me less than 5 minutes to complete my particulars on a tablet at the counter and I had my IDP within 10 minutes! That was fast

The IDP lasts for 1 year only. You can apply online and the IDP will be couriered to you within 7 working days. Since I had to get it fast, getting it done personally at AA (esp when there's no queue) was very quick.

You can click here for more info or click here to see for a list of countries in which IDP is recognised. Please note that China,Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam do not recognise IDP.

Hope this is useful.
